Lost at the expense of valuable experience
In the last round of FK Železiarne Podbrezová, a number of young talented footballers were given a chance in our line-up.
"The positive thing about today´s match is that the U19 players, Totka and Caro started in starting eleven. Meliš and Martišiak also played in this game. They are 18-19 year old players. We are looking at our project, we want to get him to the next level also with our talented players from academy." FK Senica coach Ricardo Chéu finished his speech at yesterday´s post-match press conference. Despite the loss that came in the league after eight matches, the coach of FK Senica found the positives of the match.
Twosome Marko-Totka and Julian Caro, who had a premiere in the Fortuna league for their first minutes at home victory over Zlaté Moravce this week, began their premiere in the starting eleven on the Podbrezová pitch. "It´s something I´ve always dreamed of as a little boy. I wanted to experience the debut and feelings of myself," said Caro, a 19-year-old, who came to our club at the beginning of this season from Atletico Nacional. An enriched football player took up in the middle formation alongside Zezinho and Marko Tešija. "It was an honor for me to play alongside such experienced footballers, the match is easier for you to play. I tried to get the most out of them. The match was challenging for us. We were close to score the goal, but we failed in the definition of the last pass. They were lucky to scored goal and then it was more complicated for us," added Julian Caro.
The debut in the starting line-up was also played by our academy player Marko Totka, an 18-year-old footballer started on the right-hand side in the wing-back position. With the 3-5-2 formation, this is a challenging position in which the player must support the attack as well as the defense. "I wasn´t playing badly in this position, it´s a bit challenging physically," admitted Totka, who played ninety minutes in the match. As in the case of Julian Caro, Marko Totka made his debut as follows: "I am hardly looking for words, it was a wonderful week for me. I am very grateful to the coach for the chance he has given me."
In the second half, only 17-year-old Dávid Meliš run out on the pitch. In the 56th minute, the FK Senica U19 striker replaced Julian Caro on the field to take the position alongside Desire Ségbé. "Feelings were indescribable, I tried to enjoy my first minutes at Fortuna League. I never thought that at the age of seventeen I will be my first start in the league and I am very grateful to the coach for this opportunity, and it is certainly a motivation for me to continue my football career to become a permanent part of the A-team one day," explained Dávid Meliš, who scored in his current season for U19 four goals.
In the final minutes of the match, another player from our academy, Dominik Martišiak, also got into the game. Other players from our academy was waiting on the bench for the opportunity - Ervín Matta, Šimon Horniak and Viktor Mička.
